Bed and Breakfast Inn Business Plan

Bed and Breakfast Inn Business Plan

The Magnolia Hotel is located high above Half Moon Bay, California. It overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Each room has its own antique theme and is individually furnished. We are a complete bed and breakfast Inn with a full complementary breakfast served each morning to our guests. Magnolia’s target market strategy is to be a destination that couples who work in the San Francisco Bay Area are seeking a place to recharge and relax. We will also promote to newly married couples looking for that special getaway. We need to be visible for potential guests who travel along Highway 101 to Half Moon Bay.

Magnolia will feature an eye-catching sign that will inform potential customers as well as drop-ins about our existence. To market our Inn we will use the Yellow Pages of the Bay Area and a web page on the Internet that will highlight the Inn’s features. Each room will be displayed with its unique decor, as well the outside of the Inn showing the beautiful gardens and views of the Pacific Ocean. Information about the shuttle service, room rates, and directions to attractions within 30 miles of Inn will also be available. The Magnolia is certain that it won’t take long for us to gain a following which will make us fully functional within the next year. The Inn would like to see steady growth with a average of over 90% capacity for Year 1, with profits also growing at a rate of 10%.

Jim Anderson and Nancy Anderson live in Magnolia year round. The Andersons are hands-on owners who oversee every aspect of the Inn’s operations. The Inn will have a small staff, including a cook and maid. The Inn will have a cook who will work 20 hours a week and a maid who will be on the payroll for 40 hours if needed. Nancy will also use the maid’s assistance to take reservations, assist with front desk duties and help Nancy when necessary. Nancy will be responsible for the inside operations, working alongside the cook and maid. She also takes reservations. Jim will manage the grounds and shuttle guests around in the van. Both Jim and Nancy will promote the Inn and oversee the advertising.
